NOT a New Year Resolution

I'm not really into New Year Resolutions.  They're too hard to keep.  Last year my only resolution was to moisturize and even that didn't really work out as I had hoped.  Whatchagonnado?  Life's a busy bitch.

I did start something today though, but I'm not calling it a resolution...though I resolve to keep with it.  I know that doesn't make much sense, but I never said this blog would make any sense.  Hey, perhaps that should be my New Year Resolution.

But I digress.

Today Hubby and I started a Couch to 5k running programme, guaranteed that if we follow it, it will turn us from this...

into this...

...in just 9 weeks.  So at the end of the 9 weeks, we will be able to run continuously for 30 mins, get in shape and burn off some belly fat that's just been growing and growing as of late.  I'm so glad that Hubby is into this too so we can do it together, cheer each other on and push each other out the door because that always seems to be the hardest part for me.  Once I'm out there, it's all good...I feel great afterwards, but then it's the doing it over and over again that becomes difficult.  That and not eating cookies, chips, etc.

It went well today.  It's a really easy programme to follow.  You buy the App for your iPhone and you can listen to your own music while a lovely British woman (well, she sounds lovely) prompts you to warm up, walk, jog and cool down.  This week we're basically running only for 1 minute, 8 times and walking a minute and a half in between.  Totally doable.

The App is called Get Running (Couch to 5k).  Here's what it looks like on your iPhone...

So wish us luck!  We even took some "before" pics of what we look like now, but I WILL NOT be posting them - at least not yet.  Maybe when I look like the woman in the pic above, then I'll post the before pics, but for now they just make me want to eat a cookie.

I will post this though.  I had Hubby take a pic of me as I was heading out today.

Thanks, Shell. So far so good...you should give it a try...at least it's a way to get some alone time..if only for 30 mins! :)

This is totally cool! I fell in love with running again when my daughter and I did that 5K together. I think it is always best to do it with someone and you can push each other or kick each other...whatever it takes to keep you moving. Wishing you lots of success!! Thanks for sharing the app too. Ash got an ipod touch for Christmas from my parents (yes, the spoil my girls rotten) and she will love this app!

Thanks, Kristen! I used to run way back in the day pre-hubby & pre-kids...I liked it then so I think I will now (hope so anyways)

To moisturize?
You're killing me.
I love that this program can sync with your own music.. That's a good motivator!
Good luck!!

Thanks, Lady! I'm sure the running will motivate me so much that I can make that moisturizing happen too - haha!

haha! i can't remember to drink water :P
good luck with the running - sounds like a great app. i have been using 'runkeeper' - i can monitor my running progress, as well as hikes + rowing. not sure if it can sync with music though.
